IST - Technological and Nuclear Campus (port. Campus Tecnológico e Nuclear) is located at Técnico’s Loures Campus and stands out as one of the country’s main technological and teaching centres, especially in the fields of nuclear sciences and techniques, ionising radiation and radiological protection and safety.
It lays in the outskirt of Lisbon, in municipality of Loures, one of the 18 municipalities that make up Lisbon Metropolitan Area.
Loures Campus serves as a collaborative hub, uniting researchers from diverse research units such as the Centre for Nuclear Science and Technology (C2TN), the Institute for Plasma and Nuclear Fusion (IPFN) and the Centre for Structural Chemistry (CQE). Together, these researchers address society’s most pressing challenges, with a primary focus on leveraging nuclear techniques and ionizing radiation to tackle priority areas.
How to reach IST - Technological and Nuclear Campus
There are two ways of reaching IST - Technological and Nuclear Campus using the public transportation, by Lisbon urban train or by bus .
IST - Technological and Nuclear Campus is just an 8-minute walk from Bobadela train station. Bobadela is connected with two urban train lines from/to Lisbon.
The line from Alcântara-Terra to Castanheira do Ribatejo operates Monday to Friday in half an hour interval from 05:56 to 21:26, and an hour interval from 21:26 to 00:26. Stations in between Alcântara-Terra and Bobadela are Campolide, Sete Rios (connection to metro Blue Line), Entrecampos (connection to metro Yellow Line), Roma/Areeiro (connection to metro Green Line), Marvilla, Braco de Prata, Oriente (connection to metro Red Line), Moscavide and Sacavem.
The line from Santa Apolónia to Azambuja operates Monday to Friday in half an hour interval from 06:20 to 09:20 and from 16:20 to 20:20, and an hour interval from 09:20 to 16:20, and from 20:20 to 23:20.
Both lines overlap on route Braco de Prata-Oriente-Moscavide-Sacavem-Bobadela and the traveling time from Oriente to Bobadela is 9 minutes, while from Alcântara-Terra is 30 minutes, and from Santa Apolónia is 18 minutes.
There are two bus lines that operates from Praça do Areeiro (in the vicinity of Areeiro Green Line metro station) one to R Qta Pinheiro (Z Industrial) - line 2790, and another to Alverca (Estação)– line 2791. Both lines has the same rout to En 10 - Campus Tecnológico Nuclear station and the traveling time is 25-30 minutes. Frequency for both lines on a working day is 30-40 minutes.
